Bravo Bertie! “Call the Midwife” should be your next family medicine oriented TV show!

L. O. V. E. D. Northern Exposure when I was in massage therapy school! So inspiring! So grateful for WSFM! Xoxo!

Loved the parallel with Camus. Thank you for your incredible service during those rough covid times, you treat your patients, friends, and family with the same dedication. One of the reasons you are so popular and highly sought after. The only downside is that it’s become increasingly difficult to get an appointment, but it’s worth the wait.

I too am a devotee of Northern Exposure, and miss it still. However Carla and I also developed extreme affection for the British series Doc Martin, which might be called Northern Exposure in Extremis, about a grumpy superstar London surgeon who inexplicably develops an aversion to blood (!) and so is remanded to a general practice in a small coastal village where patients come with the oddest afflictions. Sort of a cross between Northern Exposure and House, starring the unlikely hero Martin Clunis. I think it’s on Hulu. Oh and it’s based in a true story.

So, Family Medicine is like a specialty you focus on at med school? Is it an expanding or decreasing focus? I have never looked for a doc and seen that classification besides with WFM.

Hi Julie - Family Medicine is a postgraduate training program - ie a residency like pediatrics or neurology. Here it is from the horse's mouth: https://www.aafp.org/about/dive-into-family-medicine/family-medicine-speciality.html
