Very astute observation and analysis. I know the problem at the center of this article is a very serious one, sorry, but I couldn't help laughing at the end!

Yes. Of course! Veterinarians tend to be common sense and down-to-earth folks. :-)

As I like to say: Most of us have had to put our arm, at least once, up the back end of a cow. It's kinda hard to be hoity-toity after you've done that.

Great article, Bertie. I'm glad to see you're back in your scrivener's saddle. Your point about the human connection b/n doctor and patient is well made. Unfortunately, not all doctors are as invested in the personal relationship with their patients as you. To wit, a pulmonologist I went to last fall who correctly diagnosed my asthma, prescribed a battery of meds to fight it and then failed to return one of my four phone calls imploring him to prescribe a replacement for a corticosteroid inhaler which was causing harsh inflammation in my esophagus. I digress. A Good Doctor, although rare, is a good find, and much needed today. Please don't quit your day job!
