Dr. Bregman, great initiative with this blog! What surprised most about this story was not the change in recommendation about aspirin (I wasn't aware of it) or how risk-benefit analysis is an art the doctors have to perfect and rely on so very often, most surprising for me was that the sea lions bite! I did not know that. We, as patients, are confronted with such risk-benefit conundrums too: I'm sure the lady bit by the sea lion in Mexico must have wondered: should I risk an infection and wait till I get back to the US to see Dr. Bregman, or risk going to a hospital in a foreign country in which I don't know much about their health care system? Glad she was ok and I look forward to your next story.
